Obituary for Juanita J. Messick (Gorman)

Juanita J.  Messick (Gorman)
Juanita J. Messick, 82, a lifetime resident of Knightstown, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 2, 2014 surrounded by family in her home. Juanita was born in Raysville, IN to the late Robert and Ollie (Hamm) Gorman on March 31, 1931. She graduated from Knightstown High School in 1950. She married Robert Messick on September 22, 1951. She was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a member of Lydia Circle, Joy Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Gold Star Member of American Legion Auxiliary, and a blue ribbon winner at the Indiana State Fair for her afghan. Juanita enjoyed watching the Colts, Indiana Hoosiers, Nascar, playing Bunco, and she loved spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her 2 daughters, Vicki Messick of Knightstown, Judith (Sam) Rector of Knightstown; 3 grandchildren, Lori Rector of Indianapolis, Julie(Jon) Sharp of Bloomington, IL, Sam (Kylie) Rector of Acton; 6 great-grandchildren, Amy Winchester, Dane, Mason and Gabe Rector, Amelia and Kara Sharp.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, R.G., Douglas, Dallie and Wessie Gorman; sisters Dorothy Roland, Roberta Sites, and great-granddaughter Victoria Lawson.
Services for Juanita will be held at the Knightstown United Methodist Church on Thursday at 1PM, with calling from 11AM-1PM at the church. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Curt Hunt presiding. Heritage Funeral Care is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers please give to the memorial fund at KUMC.
