Obituary for William E. "Bill" Craft

William “Bill” E. Craft, 94, of Knightstown, formerly of Spiceland, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

He was born on March 1, 1926 in South Webster, Ohio, a son of the late Harry Olney and Sarah Alice (Bailey) Craft.

Bill was a resident of Henry County for 79 years and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served his country proudly during WWII aboard the USS LST-570 in the South Pacific Ocean. Bill married Geraldine “Geri” E. Harr on May 12, 1951 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. He worked as a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis for 26 years and retired in June 1985. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Bill and Geri together attended Community Baptist Church in Knightstown.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Geri Craft; three sons, Darrel (wife: Janet) Craft of Spiceland, Roger Craft of Hawaii and Rodney (wife: Lisa) Craft of Beaufort, SC; one daughter, Diana (husband: Troy) Kennedy of Spiceland; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (husband: Walter) Maynard of South Webster, OH and Hilda Adams of Minford, OH; one sister-in-law, Georgia Craft of Quincy, KY and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and a half-brother.

Funeral services will be private for the immediate family due to the current restrictions created by COVID-19. The family would like to invite those who wish to join the service at Heritage Funeral Care Facebook Live Stream at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 13, 2020 with Pastor Danny Shelton officiating.

A celebration of life memorial with military honors will be held at a later date.
