Condolences

Condolence From: Al Sorrell
Condolence: I began banking with Mr. Brown as a teenager in the late 1950s and continued to do so until I retired from the Army in 1983. I was married with one child and stationed at Ft. Gordon in Augusta, Georgia in early 1973. My Army pay was being sent directly to the bank and our bills were paid by check in those days. One morning my wife received a call from Mr. Brown telling her that the Army had neglected to send the bank my paycheck for that month. He went on to say that we didn't have to worry as he was covering our checks until I got the matter straightened out. We had been routinely paying our bills with checks on an account that had no funds. Mr. Brown's kindness saved us a lot of returned check charges and late fees on bills. I have never forgotten Mr. Brown and want his family to know of how he helped a young Army officer and his family so many years ago. I am sure there are mores stories like ours. Mr Brown was truly a member of the greatest generation and an unsung hero to my family and probably many others in and around Knightstown. May he rest in peace.
