Obituary for Tony Junior Langley

Tony J. Langley, 69, formerly of Knightstown and Rush County passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Morning Breeze Retirement Center in Greensburg, Indiana.

He was born on November 8, 1952 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Herschel and Alice Langley.

Tony has been called the Legend of Knightstown, Mr. Knightstown, and the Mayor of Knightstown, but his favorite was Uncle. The nieces and nephews called him Uncle Shrek because he was as big and gentle as Shrek unless you were on the receiving end of Tony tickles. Tony worked for the Town of Knightstown and retired after many years of working at Glen Cove Cemetery and Gas America. In his younger years he worked for Nate Hamilton’s disposal and Fisk Sanitation.

He loved car shows, classic cars, assembling model cars, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also loved his furry buddies, Willie, a Blue Dachshund, a Bulldog and Leo, a Great Pyrenees.

He will be missed by his siblings, Karen Ostermyer of Spiceland, Larry (wife: Debbie) Langley of Waldron, Monte (wife: Kelly) Langley of Spiceland, Linda Langley (Companion Mark Noel) of Rushville and last, but not least, as everyone knew his favorite little sister and caregiver, Mary Langley (Jimmy Glover) of Greensburg. He is also survived by nephews, Anthony Ostermyer of New Point, Kory Washburn of New Castle and Treylen Foreman (fiancée: Caitlynn) of Rushville; nieces, Jeanie Ostermyer of Spiceland, Michelle (husband: Brandon) Mouser of Indianapolis, Shaylynne Langley of Rushville, Cierra Langley of Waldron and Brittany Wood of Rushville; great-nephews, Sebastian, Tristan, Laiten, Elias, Paxton, Graeme, Noah and Kla`von; great-nieces Kaya, Margot and Everleigh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Langley; brother-in-law, Ron Ostermyer; great-nephew, Anthony Langley; nieces, Chelsea Langley and Destynee Rucker.

Tony had so many friends that there is no way to name them all, but a few special ones over the last few years were, Amy and Clint Leisure, Randy Anderson, Joe Harding, Daryl Shepard and family, Dale Frye, Kenny Frye, Mary Jones and Bill Smith.

The family would like to thank everyone at Morning Breeze for the exceptional care and love they showed not only Tony, but to the whole family.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 – 5 pm, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. A time to share memories will begin at 4:30 p.m.
