Obituary for Tamara Jo "Tammy" Saunders

Tamara Jo “Tammy” Saunders, 58, of Knightstown and Charlottesville, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born August 3, 1958 in Greenfield, Indiana, a daughter of the late Patricia (Helms) and James Mosley.

Tammy was a graduate of Eastern Hancock High School. On January 16, 1981, Tammy married the love of her life, Charley Saunders, and together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his death on March 19, 2016. She worked at the Greenfield and New Castle Pizza Kings and had just celebrated 25 years of employment there. She and her husband, Charley, owned many businesses over the years, Saunders Auction in Rushville, Edna’s Corner Restaurant in Charlottesville, The Tape Place video rental and Tammy’s Pizza in Carthage, and for many years they had a booth at the Glass Cupboard Antiques in Knightstown. Tammy greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish Tammy’s memory include her son, Josh (wife: Misty) Brinson of Rushville; her daughter, Trilby (Saunders) Whitham (partner: Kim Hagan) of Franklin; eight grandchildren, Noah, Gabriella, Cody, Katilyn, Wyatt, Damien, Destiny and Brittany; sisters and brothers, Brenda (husband: Rich) Elsamiller, Terry (wife: Linda) Helms, Michael (wife: Nycol) Mosley, Lenora (husband: Tom) Conley and Jeff (wife: Katie) Mosley; brothers-in-law, Wayne (wife: Trisha) Saunders, Reece (wife: Joan) Saunders, David Saunders, Jim (wife: Kelly) Saunders and Elmer (wife: Carla) Roy and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charley Saunders and a brother-in-law, Danny Saunders.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 23, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Care with Pastor George Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
