John Paul "Johnny"  Butler
John Paul Butler “Johnny”, 81, of Knightstown, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

He was born on September 15, 1935 in Haldeman, KY to the late John and Stella (Egan) Butler.

John grew up in Knightstown and attended Knightstown Schools. He enjoyed drag racing with his brothers, working on boats, cars and going to races. He married the love of his life, Violet Jones on March 12, 1955. He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 38 years as a machine operator. His family was always priority and came first. John was thought of as a “jack-of-all-trades” who spent time with his family camping and boating on the Ohio river nearly every weekend.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Sue (husband: Duane) Benbow and Carol Cash; son Paul (wife: Debbie) Butler; grandchildren, Ryan Griffey (girlfriend: Amy Reasoner), Brittany (husband: Travis) Thibeault, Jody Cash (significant other: Bobby Richmond) and Heather New; great-grandchildren, Mason Cash, A.J. Thibeault, Lucas Thibeault, Jaden New, Naomi Long, Cooper Braden and one on the way; brothers, Carl (wife: Ruth) Butler, Ray Butler, Hayden Butler, Harold (wife: Janet) Butler; sisters, Sheila (husband: Richard) Rawlins, Charlene (husband: Paul) Jensen; brothers-in-law, Phil Jackson, Roger Jones and Raymond Jones; sister-in-law, Joyce Butler as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Violet Butler (2004); infant daughter, Romona Butler; brothers, Arnold, Leon and Richard Butler; sisters, Naomi Jackson, Letha Redmon and several other dear family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Care Knightstown, with Pastor Richard Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 2 – 8 pm, Friday, January 27, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
