Obituary for Jeffrey Bryan Haase
Jeffrey Bryan Haase, 76, of Knightstown, passed away on the evening of August 24, 2023, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
He was born on April 3, 1947, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Bryan and Maribel (Winkler) Haase.
Jeff grew up in Knightstown and was a 1965 graduate of Knightstown High School. He graduated from Purdue University and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jeff worked in several capacities but loved driving a school bus the most. He especially enjoyed transporting special needs children to various schools in the county. Jeff was a longtime, very active member of the Knightstown Optimist Club. He loved coaching baseball, softball, and basketball. He enjoyed walking, hiking, and fishing. Jeff loved his family and friends and was always smiling.
Those left to cherish Jeff’s memory include his three children, Jeffrey (Shan) Haase of Fishers, Shannan Haase (Pat Lister) of Knightstown, and Emily (Chad) Leakey of Knightstown; grandchildren, Kale (Walker) Titus, Meric Haase, Dylan Chandler, Darby Haase, Claire Leakey, Saige Chandler, Gage Haase, and Stella Leakey; two great-grandchildren, Bo and Whitley Titus; a brother, Tom (Judy) Haase of Knightstown; a sister, Dee Ellen Jarboe of Carmel, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by two sisters, Truth (Fran) Schiffhauer and Janice (Jack) Kendall, and a brother, Michael Haase.
There will be a Celebration of Jeff’s Life at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Care with Pastor Ed van Wijk officiating. Military funeral honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #152 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Knightstown Volunteer Fire Department, 30 S. Washington St., Knightstown, IN 46148.
