Obituary for Bernard Wayne Saunders
Bernard “Wayne” Saunders, 73, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St Vincent of Carmel.
He was born on May 6, 1950 in New Castle, IN, a son of the late Bernard “Neal” and Gladys (Pearson) Saunders.
Wayne attended Knightstown and New Castle Schools growing up. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis and was a member of the Local UAW 1111 before retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed carpentry, watching Nascar, researching genealogy and loved his vegetable garden. Wayne dearly loved his family and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Trisha Saunders; children Jonathan (Liz), Darryl, Derrick (Kayla), Doug (Brittany) and Kari (Darrell); ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers, Reece (Joan) Saunders, Dave Saunders, Jim (Kelly) Saunders and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Saunders, Charley Saunders and an infant son, Anthony Saunders.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 – 12 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
