Obituary for Robert C. Zimmerman

Robert C. Zimmerman, 94, of Carthage, Indiana, passed away July 2, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born in Noble County, Indiana, on April 14, 1921, to Fred and Audrey (Hutchins) Zimmerman. He moved to Carthage in 1947 from Angola, Indiana. Bob was a member of the Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and was a U.S. Navy Veteran and survivor of Pearl Harbor. Bob retired after 30 years at Delco-Remy in Anderson. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the Pit Stop. Bob most enjoyed fishing with his best and favorite partner, his wife, Mary.
Bob will be missed by his children, James (Rhonda) Zimmerman and Judy Grizzell; “Special” daughter, Debbie (Nigh) Gibson. Sisters: Betty Smith and Delores Bennett; Grandchildren: Melissa (Charles), Holly, Emily (Andy), Amanda (Frank), and Clint; Great grandchildren: Richard, Taylor, Landon, Maci, Corey, Jaxon and Annily.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, in 1996; and brothers-in-law: Stanley Bennett and Aubrey Smith.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 2 PM in Riverside Cemetery, Carthage, Indiana, with Military Chaplains presiding. All arrangements and care have been entrusted to HERITAGE FUNERAL CARE in Knightstown.
